Arrest Made in the Homicide of Kwamari Harrell

The Metropolitan Police Department announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of Kwamari Harrell, who was shot to death in September of 2008.  On the morning of Monday, October, 27, 2008, 17-year-old Lavander Williams, of no fixed address, was arrested by members of MPD’s Fugitive Unit pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him as an adult under Title 16 of the DC Code with Murder II While Armed.

On Saturday, September 27, 2008, at approximately 9:10 pm, officers assigned to the Sixth District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the 4600 block Kane Place, NE for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they located 36-year-old Kwamari Harrell, of the 500 block of 44th Street, NE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body.  He was taken to Prince George’s County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
