Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Wheeler Road, SE.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at approximately 4:22 pm, a Seventh District officer located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the body lying in the 3500 block of Wheeler Road, SE.   DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel then responded to the scene.    

The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of his next-of-kin, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:09 pm.  The victim’s remains were then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM[E].  The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777 and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  If the information provided by a caller to DC Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
