The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that the homicide victim from the 5700 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE has now been identified. The decedent in this case has been identified as 20-year-old Dimitri Boykins, of the 200 block of 37th Street, SE.
Shortly after 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, Sixth District officers responded to the 5700 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE to investigate the sounds of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located Mr. Boykins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying in front of 5708 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:33 pm. The victim’s remains were then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
