Homicide Victim from Wheeler Road, SE Identified

The Metropolitan Police Department announced the homicide victim from the 3500 block of Wheeler Road, SE has now been identified. The decedent in this case has been identified as 35-year-old Bernard Holmes, of the 700 block of Congress Street, SE. 

 

On Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at approximately 4:22 pm, a Seventh District officer located Mr. Holmes lying in front of 3500 Wheeler Road, SE suffering from a gunshot wound to the body.   DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel then responded to the scene.   Subsequently,  he was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:09 pm.  

 

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM[E].  The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777 and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  If the information provided by a caller to DC Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
