Arrest Made in the July 2005 Homicide of James E. Mims

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide of James Edward Mims, who was shot to death in July of 2005.  On Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at approximately 7:50 pm, 26-year-old Shannon Marshall, of Northeast, Washington was arrested by members of the Fugitive Squad pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.  Mr. Marshall has been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed in connection with the death of James E. Mims.

                                                                                                    

On the night of Saturday, July 30, 2005, Metropolitan Police were called to the 2900 block of Mills Avenue, NE to investigate the sound of gunshots.  Upon arrival they located 28-year-old James Edward Mims, of the 2400 block of Hamlin Street, NE on the ground near the swimming pool at the Langdon Park Recreational Center suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.  He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead.
