Armed Robbery Suspects Quickly Apprehended

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that two alleged armed robbery suspects were quickly apprehended after attempting to flee from police earlier today.

Shortly before 11 am on Monday, November 10, 2008, a woman reported to police that she had been the victim of an armed robbery in the 4600 block of Alton Place, NW.

A short time later around 11:30 am, officers were called to the 3800 block of Calvert Street, NW, for the report of another armed robbery of a citizen which had taken place at that location.

Officers acting on a lookout broadcast in reference to the earlier incidents, observed a vehicle appearing to match the description of the suspect vehicle in this case on Virginia Avenue, NW.  That vehicle described as a dark colored Hyundai Sonata subsequently fled from officers who attempted to stop it.

The vehicle came to a rest after striking a barrier in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, NW, at which time the two suspects inside fled.  Those suspects were subsequently apprehended a short time later following a coordinated effort by MPD officers from multiple police districts involved in the investigation of this incident.

The suspects in this case, an adult male and a juvenile male are currently facing numerous charges in connection with these offenses. The alleged suspect vehicle in this case was reportedly previously taken during a carjacking in Bladensburg, Maryland.

During the course of this investigation, a weapon was reportedly recovered in connection with this case.
