Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier has announced today the arrests of three adult males for assault weapon and drug related charges in the 2600 block of Birney Place, SE.
At approximately 1:30 pm, on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 members of the United States Marshal’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force responded to an apartment building located in the 2600 block of Birney Place, SE in an attempt to apprehend a suspect wanted on a District of Columbia Superior Court Bench Warrant. Reliable information gathered by the United States Marshal’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force indicated that this wanted person was possibly armed and dangerous. Upon arrival, the wanted subject was observed standing in front of the location, before running inside an apartment within the premises. Law enforcement reached to the front of the apartment in question and knocked on the door without getting an answer. A short time later, it was learned that the wanted subject was attempting to flee the apartment through a rear window, at which time members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force placed him under arrest. Two other adult males were placed under arrest at this location.
Located and seized from the apartment was three Mac-11 Assault Pistols, one (7.62X39) Caliber Assault Rifle and one zip lock bag containing crack-cocaine.
