Homicide on East Capitol Street, SE

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are investigating a homicide, which occurred on East Capitol Street, SE.

At approximately 6:40 am, on Sunday, November 23, 2008, members of the department’s Sixth District and personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the intersection of East Capitol Street, SE and the southbound Interstate 295 exit for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located an unidentified adult black male lying at the location, but found no signs consistent with life. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for the District of Columbia.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777 and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
