Arrest Made in the Homicide of Melody Williams

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of Melody B. Williams.

On Sunday, December 7, 2008, 27-year-old Kerstan Bernard Leonard, of Northeast DC, was arrested for the murder of Melody B. Williams. He was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

At approximately 11:14 pm, on Friday, December 5, 2008, members of the Seventh District responded for the report of sounds of gunshots in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE.  Upon arrival, officers located three adult females, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene. The victims were transported to an area local hospital, where 41-year-old Melody B. Williams of the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE was pronounced dead.
