Homicide at 14th and Newton Streets, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a fatal stabbing which occurred at 14th and Newton Streets, NW.

 

Shortly before 4:30 pm on Friday, December 12, 2008, officers from the Third District responded to 14th and Newton Streets, NW, to investigate the report of a stabbing at that location. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male suffering from apparent multiple stab wounds. The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:07 pm.

 

The decedent in this case has been identified as 14-year-old Giovanni Sanchez of the 1300 block of Underwood Street, NW.

 

This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM [E]. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to DC Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
