Homicide in the 4900 block of Ames Street, NE

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a homicide which occurred in the 4900 block of Ames Street, NE.

 

At approximately 12:46 am on Sunday, December 14, 2008, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 4900 block of Ames Street, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 am.

 

The decedent in this case has been identified as 20-year-old Jordan Gilchrist of the 200 block of 51st Street, NE.

 

This case remains under investigation by members from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM [E]. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to D.C. Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by a caller to D.C. Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
