Homicide in the 2400 Block of Virginia Avenue, NW

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are investigating a death that occurred on Virginia Avenue, NW.

 

Shortly after 8:00 am on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, members of the department’s Second District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the 2400 block of Virginia Avenue, NW for the report of a man down.  Upon arrival, they located an unidentified adult male suffering from apparent blunt force trauma injuries to the head lying on the sidewalk adjacent to the Potomac Plaza Apartment building located at in the 2400 block of Virginia Avenue.   Emergency medical personnel could find no life signs.  Subsequently, the victim  was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.  The remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
