Homicide in the 2300 block of Skyland Place, SE

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 2300 block of Skyland Place, SE.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., on Thursday, January 1, 2009, members of the department’s Seventh District and D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the 2300 block of Skyland Place, SE for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located 23-year-old Lamar Anthony Pierce, of the 2300 block of Skyland Place, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body. The victim was subsequently pronounced dead by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to D.C. Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
