The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in the January 20, 2009 homicide of Terrance Antonio Johnson, who was shot to death in the 3500 block of 6th Street, SE. As a result of their investigation, On Friday, January 23, 2009, detectives assigned to the Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch, with the assistance of members of the department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Seventh District Detectives Office executed a search warrant which resulted in the arrest of 19-year-old Carl F. Willis of Southeast Washington, DC. Mr. Willis has been charged with Murder II While Armed.
On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at about 10:30 pm, Seventh District officers responded to the 3500 block of 6th Street, SE to investigate the sound of gunfire detected by ShotSpotter. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head lying on the sidewalk adjacent to 3508 6th Street. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene, but they could find no life signs. Subsequently the decedent, identified as 26-year-old Terrance A. Johnson of Southwest Washington, DC, was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia. The remains were then transported to the DC Medical Examiner’s Office.
