Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 300 block of S Street, NE.
At approximately 11:12 pm, on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, members of the Department’s Fifth District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the 300 block of S Street, NE for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located 39-year-old Rachael Marie Culver, of the S Street address, suffering from apparent multiple stab wounds. She was subsequently transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation into this case indicates that the decedent may have been the victim of an assault while in the 300 block of S Street, NE, after which the decedent was able to make it back to her residence before collapsing.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
