The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that 32-year-old Maxmillo Argueta and 57-year-old Humberto Escobar of Northwest, DC, who were initially being held at DC Jail for Aggravated Assault in connection with the 14th Street NW case, have now been charged with Manslaughter in the death of José Sanchez. On Tuesday, February 3, 2009 detectives assigned to the Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch obtained arrest warrants in connection with the death of Mr. Sanchez.
On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at approximately 5:30 pm, members assigned to the department’s Third District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the 3600 block of 14th Street, NW for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located 32-year-old José Sanchez, of no fixed address, lying on the ground in an unconscious state. The investigation determined that the victim received his injury when he was assaulted by two suspects. Both suspects were subsequently located and arrested by detectives assigned to the Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch along with the assistance of personnel assigned to the Third District.
On Friday, January 30, 2009, the victim succumbed to his injury and was pronounced dead at 5:57 pm.
