Second Suspect Charged in the Deloris Persha Murder Case

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that a second suspect has been charged in connection with the September 13, 2008 fatal shooting of Deloris Persha. At approximately 8:00 am, on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 18-year-old Willie Walker, Jr., of Northwest, DC was charged with Murder One While Armed pursuant a DC Superior Court booking order in connection with the murder of Ms. Persha. The first arrest was made on Friday, October 31, 2008.

Shortly after 2:00 am, on the morning of Saturday, September 13, 2008, officers assigned to the Third District and DC Fire Department Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the 300 block of V Street, NW for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, who was identified as 44-year-old Deloris Persha, of the 300 block of V Street, NW was transported to a local hospital where she was admitted in critical condition. On Thursday, September 18, 2008, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
