Bank Robbery Suspects Sought

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate two suspects wanted in connection with the robbery of a SunTrust Bank which occurred on February 24, 2009.

 

On Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at approximately 10:50 am, a male suspect reportedly entered the SunTrust Bank located at 410 Rhode Island Avenue, NE. The suspect passed a note demanding money to one of the tellers and fled the bank after obtaining an undetermined amount of US currency. Reportedly, the suspect then entered a waiting vehicle operated by a second suspect and the vehicle fled eastbound on Rhode Island Avenue, NE.

 

Suspect #1 is described as a white male in his early 40s with a stocky build, approximately 5’ 8” to 6’ tall, with brown eyes, and is balding with combed over brown hair, wearing a dark colored suit and a dark blue shirt.

 

Suspect #2 is described as a bearded, dark complexioned black male in his early 30s, approximately 5’6” tall with a slim build, wearing light colored blue jeans and a dark hat.

 

The suspect vehicle is described as possibly being a late model silver colored Mercedes Benz, with a broken mirror on the driver’s side.    

 

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202)727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM [E] (1-888-919-2746). The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any bank robbery committed in the District of Columbia. 

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
