The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that five handguns have been taken off the streets of the District of Columbia.
At approximately 6:20 pm, on Thursday, February 26, 2009, members assigned to the department’s Sixth District recovered a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition in the 400 block of Burbank Street, SE.
At approximately 8:15 pm, on Thursday, February 26, 2009, members assigned to the department’s Third District were conducting an investigation in the 1400 block of Girard Street, NW. As a result of this investigation, a suspect was apprehended and a handgun was recovered with several live rounds of ammunition. The suspect in this case was charged with “Carrying a Pistol Without a License.”
At approximately 9:20 pm, on Thursday, February 26, 2009, members assigned to the department’s Fifth District were executing a search warrant in the 100 block of W Street, NW. During the execution of this search warrant, a suspect was placed under arrest and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered with several live rounds of ammunition. The suspect in this case was subsequently charged with “Carrying a Pistol Without a License.”
At approximately 12:45 am, on Friday, February 27, 2009, members assigned to the Sixth District were conducting a traffic stop in the 4900 block of G Street, SE. During the course of their investigation they recovered a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition. The suspect in this case was charged with “Carrying a Pistol Without a License.”
At approximately 3:50 am, on Friday, February 27, 2009, members assigned to the department’s Narcotic Special Investigations Division were conducting an investigation in the 4100 block of 4th Street, SE. As a result of this investigation, a semi-automatic handgun was recovered and a suspect was placed under arrest. The suspect in this case was subsequently charged with “Carrying a Pistol Without a License.”
