Handguns Recovered from DC Streets and Robbery Suspect Apprehended

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the recoveries of three handguns and the arrest of a robbery suspect.

  • At approximately 3:50 pm, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Seventh District recovered a semi-automatic handgun in the 3700 block of 9th Street, SE.  There was no arrest reported to be associated with this recovery.
  • At approximately 9:30 pm, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s Narcotics and Special Investigations Division recovered a semi-automatic handgun in the 500 block of Division Avenue, NE.  There was no arrest reported to be associated with this recovery.
  • At approximately 2:20 am, Thursday, March 26, 2009, members assigned to the Department’s First District were conducting a traffic stop in the 300 block of 17th Street, NW.  As a result of the traffic stop, a semi-automatic handgun with several live rounds of ammunition was recovered.  The suspect in this case was placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
  • At approximately 2:25 am, on Thursday, March 26, 2009, a complainant reported to members assigned to the Department’s First District that while walking in the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue, NW an unknown subject approached him and robbed him of an undetermined amount of cash.  As a result of the quick initiative by these officers, they were able to make an apprehension.  The suspect in this case was charged with Robbery Force and Violence.
