Arrest Made in Double Homicide on Q Street, SE

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in the 2008 murders of Mario Antwon Settles and Shanell Adams, who were shot to death in the 1700 block of Q Street, SE.  On Friday, May 1, 2009, 24-year-old Delante Samuel Sharp, of Bladensburg, Maryland was arrested by detectives assigned to the Department’s Homicide Branch pursuant to a DC Superior Court booking order charging him with two counts of Murder I While Armed.

At approximately 11:50 pm on Monday, July 28, 2008, officers assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District were called to an apartment building in the 1700 block of Q Street, SE, to investigate the sounds of gunshots from inside.  Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Mario Antwon Settles and 20-year-old Shanell Adams, of the Q Street address, suffering from gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical personnel responded to the scene, but were unable to find any signs consistent with life. The victims were subsequently pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
