Fatal Shooting on 4th Street, SE

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are currently investigating a homicide which occurred on 4th Street, SE.

 

At approximately 6:15 am on Saturday, May 16, 2009, members assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the 4200 block of 4th Street, SE for the report of an unconscious person.  Upon arrival, they located 32-year-old Michael George Colbert, of the 1500 block of V Street, SE suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC CRIME SOLVERS at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by a caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
