Homicide in the 5000 Block of Call Place, SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 5000 block of Call Place, SE.

 

At approximately 1:24 am on Thursday, May 21, 2009, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 5000 block of Call Place, SE, to investigate the sounds of gunshots.  Upon arrival at that location, officers discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene, but were unable to find any signs consistent with life. The victim was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where he was pronounced dead.

 

The victim in this case has been identified as 26-year-old Marcus Jones of the 4700 block of C Street, SE.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

 

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to D.C. Crime Solvers by calling 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  If the information provided by a caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
