Police Involved Shooting in the 3800 Block of First Street, SE

The Metropolitan Police Department has identified 27-year-old Terrence Owen Moore as the suspect in a police involved shooting, which occurred on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

At approximately 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 30, 2009, members assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotics and Special investigations Division’s Gun Recovery Unit were conducting an investigation in the area of the 3800 block of First Street, SE.  The preliminary investigation revealed that as the officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, he ran from the officers and broke his way into a residence in the area.  The officers pursued the suspect and gained access into the residence, where gunfire was exchanged.  Mr. Moore was struck during the shooting.  He then barricaded himself for several hours and eventually surrendered.

The suspect was immediately taken into police custody and transported to an area hospital and admitted in stable condition.

Mr. Moore faces charges of Burglary One While Armed and Assault on a Police Officer While Armed. The police shooting is currently under investigation by the department's Force Investigations Team.
