Arrest Made in Antwain D. Robinson Murder Case

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide of Antwain Demetrius Robinson, who died on July 13, 2009 as the result of a shooting committed on July 3, 2009.  On Friday, July 17, 2009, 24-year-old Marcus Jose Ruffin of southeast DC was arrested. He has been charged with Murder II while Armed in connection with the death of Mr. Robinson.

On Friday, July 3, 2009, at about 3:15 am, officers assigned to the Sixth District responded to the vicinity of the 4500 block of Quarles Street, NE to investigate a ShotSpotter* alert of the sound of gunfire as well as a subsequent report of a shooting victim in the 4400 block of Ponds Street, NE.  Upon arrival, they located a shooting victim, identified as 29-year-old Antwain D. Robinson of Northeast Washington, DC, lying in a grassy area alongside of the 4400 block of Ponds Street.  Subsequently, a second gunshot victim was located lying on the sidewalk in the 4400 block of Ponds Street, NE.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported Antwain Robinson to Prince George's County Hospital Center where he was admitted in critical condition and the second victim to a local hospital where that victim was admitted in critical but stable condition.

Early on the morning of July 3, 2009, Mr. Robinson was transported to the University of Maryland Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition.  On Monday, July 13, 2009, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:30 pm.  The identity of the second victim is being withheld due to witness status.
