The Metropolitan Police Department announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide of Antwan L. Gross who was fatally shot in the 2700 block of Wade Road, SE in October of 2006. On Thursday, July 23, 2009, 20-year-old Vernon Headspeth of Southeast, Washington, DC was arrested and charged with Murder Two While Armed in connection with the murder of Mr. Gross.

At approximately 11:18 pm, on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, members assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to an apartment building located in the 2700 block of Wade Road, SE, for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, they located 38-year-old Antwan Lorenzo Gross, of the Wade Road address, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
