Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier announced today the start of All Hands on Deck (AHOD) Phase V.  AHOD began at 6 am today and concludes at 6 am on Sunday, July 26, 2009.

During the first six hours of Phase V of AHOD, officers arrested a homicide suspect in connection with the July 4th shooting of 23-year-old Malik Logan.  Arrested was 22-year-old Dominic Robinson;  Third District Vice detectives made six narcotics related arrests and recovered two guns; and Sixth District officers and detectives apprehended an armed robbery suspect.

“During the last AHOD, we made an arrest in a recent homicide, and we are continuing to close cases during Phase Five.  The public is giving us a lot of helpful tips that are leading to arrests.” said Chief Lanier. “We are maintaining an active role of information sharing between the residents and officers, and it’s working.”

“All Hands on Deck is a great opportunity for District residents to partner with MPD officers in their neighborhoods as they work to ensure safe communities,” Mayor Fenty said.  “I commend Chief Lanier and her team at MPD for their hard work to bring criminals to justice and make the District’s neighborhoods safer for all of us.”

All available officers will be on duty and on patrol throughout the city.  The presence of the officers is to promote effective community relations with the use of information sharing. Officers will be walking on foot beats and engaging residents about what’s happening in their communities.

During AHOD Phase I (April 24-26), Phase II (June 5-7), Phase III (June 26-28) and Phase IV (July 10-12), MPD made a total of (1,897) arrests and seized thousands of dollars in drugs.

The MPD is reminding residents that it offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any unsolved homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

The MPD offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any armed robbery or a robbery that results in serious bodily injury.

The MPD is also working with Crime Solvers.  Through the DC Crime Solver’s program, individuals who provide information that leads to an arrest and indictment in a robbery or other serious crime may receive a reward of up to $1,000 by calling 1-866-411-TIPS.
