Homicide in the Unit Block of Forrester Street, SW

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are currently investigating a homicide which occurred in the Unit block of Forrester Street, SW.

At approximately 11:30 pm, on Friday, September 18, 2009, officers from the Seventh District responded to South Capitol Street and Forrester Street, SW, for a report of the sounds of gunshots at that location.  Upon arrival, officers located a male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital.  At 12:16 am, on September 19, 2009, the victim was pronounced dead.  He has been identified as 20 year-old Derrick D. Marshall of the Unit block of Galveston Place, SW, Washington DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anonymous information may also be forwarded to the department’s Crime Solvers Unit at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  If the information provided by a caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
