Homicide in the 3000 Block of Stanton Road, SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are currently investigating a homicide which occurred in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE.

At approximately 10:58 pm, on Sunday, September 20, 2009, officers from the Seventh District responded to the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE, for a report of the sounds of gunshots at that location.  Upon arrival, officers learned a male subject had been shot at that location and transported by a concerned citizen to an area hospital.  At approximately 1:08 am, on Monday, September 21, 2009, the victim was pronounced dead.  He has been identified as 19 year-old Algan Howard of the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE, Washington DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anonymous information may also be forwarded to the department’s Crime Solvers Unit at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.  If the information provided by a caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
