The Metropolitan Police Department announced today an arrest has been made in a sexual assault and burglary case.

At approximately 3:30 am on Monday, April 6, 2009, a male suspect entered a residence located in the 1500 block of Marion Street, NW and sexually assaulted the adult female occupant. He then stole property and fled the scene.

Evidence linked a suspect to the attack. Pursuant to an arrest warrant, 25-year-old George Leroy Clowers of no fixed address has been charged with First Degree Sexual Abuse and Burglary One. On Thursday, September 24, 2009 at approximately 7:30 am, he was brought to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit by members of the Department’s Fugitive Unit.
