Fatal Shooting on 37th Street, SE

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting committed in the 300 block of 37th Street, SE on October 31, 2009.

October 31, 2009 at approximately 8:00 pm, officers assigned to the Sixth District were called to the 300 block of 37th Street, SE to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to Prince George’s Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.  The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Ashton Hunter of the 300 block of 37th Street, SE.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC CRIME SOLVERS at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
