Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on 16th Street, NW.
On Monday, November 2, 2009, at approximately 9 pm, officers from the Third District responded to the 3600 block of 16th Street, NW for a report of an unconscious person. Upon their arrival, they located 38-year-old Nora Amaya whom appeared to be unconscious and not breathing. Personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene but were unable to find signs consistent with life. The exact cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
