Shooting Victim Dies

On Saturday, February 20, 1999, at approximately 9:56 pm, Metropolitan Police and DCFD emergency medical technicians responded to the parking lot of the Exxon gas station located at 3540 14th Street, NW for a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head lying on the ground.

The victim, who has been identified as 21-year-old Juan Carlos Arellano, of the 700 block of North George Mason Drive in Arlington, Virginia, was transported to Howard University Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. Arellano was pronounced dead at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 23rd.

The case is currently under investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division. Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call the department's homicide division at 202-727-4347 or the D.C. Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777.
