On Monday, March 29, 1999, at approximately 2:00 am, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 4500 block of B Street, SE to investigate the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject lying on the sidewalk next to 4511 B Street, SE. The victim was found to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency personnel from the D.C. Fire Department responded but found no life signs. The victim was subsequently transported to the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office where he was officially pronounced dead at 4:40 am. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification.
