Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing which occurred in the 400 block of 16th Street, NE.
On Saturday, August 27, 2011, at approximately 9:43 pm, units from the First District responded to the 400 block of 16th Street, NE to investigate the report of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they observed a female suffering from an apparent stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 49 year-old Karen Jordan of Northeast, DC.
On Sunday, August 28th, 2011, at approximately 11:55 am, members from the CID/ Homicide Branch arrested 44-year-old Stephanie Lawson of Northeast, Washington, D.C. pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging her with Murder II while Armed.
