MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies

Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Citywide there have been 488 arrests for robbery this year. Below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

 

First District

  • Friday, May 11, 2012 at 5:30 pm, in the 400 block of 2nd Street, NW, two suspects armed with knives struck a complainant in the head with a brick and robbed the victim of cash. Responding officers located the two adult male suspects and arrested them for Robbery while armed knife.

 

  • Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 3:15 am, two complainants were walking in the 800 block of 5th Street, NW when two suspects attempted to grab a complainant’s purse. They were unsuccessful, but then grabbed the other complainant’s purse containing a cell phone and credit cards.  Responding officers stopped and arrested one of the suspects at 6th and K Streets. He was arrested for Robbery Snatch.

 

Third District

  • On Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at approximately 5:19 pm in the 500 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NW, a suspect took the victim's property.  On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, a juvenile male was arrested nearby for Robbery while Armed in connection with this crime.
  • On Sunday, May 13, 2012, just before 3 am in the 3200 block of Champlain Street, NW, a suspect forcibly took the victim's property.  An adult male was arrested nearby for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.

 

  • On Monday, May 14, 2012, at approximately 11:45 pm in the 1300 block of V Street, NW, a suspect snatched the victim's propertyAn adult male was arrested nearby for Robbery Snatch in connection with this crime.

 

  • On Monday, May 14, 2012, at approximately 1:49 pm in the 3000 block of 14th Street, NW, a suspect forcibly took the victim's property.  A juvenile female was arrested nearby for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.

  

  • On Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at approximately 5:25 pm in the 1300 block of Monroe Street, NW, a suspect snatched the victim's property.  A juvenile male was arrested nearby for Robbery Pocketbook Snatch in connection with this crime.

 

  • On Thursday, May 17, 2012, at approximately 11:05 pm, in the 2200 block of Ontario Road, NW, four suspects forcibly took the victim's property.  An adult male, a juvenile male, and two juvenile females were arrested nearby for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.

 

Fourth District

  • Monday, April 30, 2012, at approximately 3:35 pm, a suspect snatched a victim’s cell phone while she was walking in the intersection of 6th Street and Newton Place, NW. On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, an investigation by Metropolitan Police Department detectives led to the arrest of a juvenile male suspect for Robbery Snatch in this case.

 

Sixth District

  • Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at approximately 5:25 pm, a suspect snatched cash from a victim’s hand in the 5300 block of East Capitol Street, SE. Metropolitan Police Department officers located the suspect. He was positively identified and arrested for Robbery Snatch.

 

  • Thursday, May 17, 2012, at approximately 2:47 am, two suspects armed with a BB gun approached a victim in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue, SE and demanded cash. Metropolitan Police Department officers located the two juvenile suspects and arrested them for Robbery while Armed – Gun.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
