MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies
|
Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Citywide there have been 509 arrests for robbery this year. Below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.
First District
· Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at approximately 9:15 pm, a complainant reported walking at 6th and F Streets, NE when a group of female subjects assaulted and robbed her of her cellular phone and purse. Following an investigation, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, a juvenile female was arrested for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.
· Thursday, May 24, 2012 at approximately 6:43 pm, while a complainant was eating on the patio of restaurant in the 700 block of E Street, NW, a suspect snatched the complainant’s cell phone and ran. A nearby police officer apprehended the juvenile suspect and arrested him for Robbery Snatch. The complainant’s property was recovered.

Thursday, May 24, 2012, at approximately 7:35 pm, two suspects approached a victim and robbed her at gun point of her i-Phone. Responding officers stopped one of the subjects and he was positively identified as one of the participants in the robbery. A replica handgun was recovered during the investigation. A juvenile suspect was arrested for Armed Robbery Gun in connection with this crime.
Second District
- Monday, May 21, 2012, at approximately 3:45 pm, a suspect snatched a victim’s cell phone and fled. An adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery (Snatch) in connection with this crime.

Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at approximately 3:30 pm, a suspect snatched a victim’s cell phone in the 3700 block of O Street, NW. An adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery Snatch in connection with the offense.
Third District
- Friday, May 18, 2012, at approximately 9:31 pm, in the 1600 block of 11th Street, NW, a suspect snatched the victim’s i-Pad and fled on foot. A juvenile male was arrested nearby for Robbery Snatch in connection with this crime.

Sunday, May 20, 2012, at approximately 3:15 am, in the 1800 block of Columbia Road, NW, two suspects took property from the victim’s pocket. Two adult males were arrested nearby for Robbery Pickpocket.

Thursday, May 24, 2012, at approximately 12:26 am, two suspects forcibly took several personal items from the victim, including a cell phone. An adult male was arrested nearby and charged with Robbery Force and Violence.
Fourth District
- Sunday, May 20, 2012, at approximately 8:45 pm, a complainant was the victim of a robbery while walking in the 1400 block of Rock Creek Ford Road, NW. The suspect, a juvenile male, assaulted the complainant and stole his wallet containing cash. On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, an investigation by Metropolitan Police Department detectives led to the arrest of the suspect. He was arrested for Robbery Force and Violence.

Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at approximately 2:39 pm, an adult female instructed her juvenile son to snatch a cell phone from an individual in the 3500 block of 14th Street, NW. A short time later, the suspect was arrested by officers and charged with Attempt to Commit Robbery and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
- Thursday, May 24, 2012, at approximately 4:30 pm, an adult male suspect snatched an individual’s i-Pad box in the 3500 block of 14th Street, NW. A short time later, the suspect was arrested by officers and charged with Attempt to Commit Robbery.
Sixth District
- Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at approximately 4:27 am, a complainant was approached by three suspects in the 800 block of 44th Street, NE. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim and announced a robbery. The other two suspects kicked the victim. The robbery was interrupted by members of the Sixth District on routine patrol. The three suspects fled the scene, and after a brief foot chase and the assistance of the K-9 Unit, an adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery Gun. The investigation continues to identify the other suspects.
- Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at approximately 3:45 pm, a suspect snatched a victim’s purse in the 4600 Benning Road, SE and fled. A juvenile suspect was arrested a short time later for Robbery Snatch in connection with this crime.
- Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at approximately 5:30 pm, at Chaplin and H Streets, SE, a victim was assaulted and robbed of multiple “Smart-Trip” cards. A juvenile male was identified, arrested for Robbery, Force and Violence.
- Thursday, May 24, 2012 at approximately 1:55 am, in the 200 block of Anacostia Road, SE a suspect approached a victim and ordered her out of her vehicle. An adult was later positively identified, arrested for Armed Carjacking (Gun).
Seventh District
- Friday, May 18, 2012, at approximately 1:50 pm, a suspect took a victim’s purse in the 100 block of Wayne Place SE. An adult male was arrested for Robbery Snatch in connection with this offense.
- Saturday, May 19, 2012, complainants were assaulted by two suspects at 25th and Good Hope Road, SE. Two juvenile suspects were arrested for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.
- Monday, May 21, 2012, a suspect snatched a victim’s purse at approximately 6:36 pm in the 4000 block of 4th Street, SE. An adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery Snatch in connection with this crime.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
