Suspect Sought in Armed Robbery in the 2500 Block of Benning Road, NE

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to identify and locate a suspect wanted in connection with an Armed Robbery that occurred at the 7-Eleven convenience store located in the 2500 block of Benning Road, NE.

On Thursday, May 24, 2012 at approximately 4:40 am, a male subject entered the 7-Eleven and engaged a cashier in conversation. During their interaction, the suspect brandished a knife and took 30 to 50 packs of cigarettes and exited the store.

The suspect is described as a black male, 50-55 years of age, 5’10”-6’0 in height, medium build, dark complexion, wearing a camouflage baseball cap with a corporal insignia on the front, a black T-shirt, with an emblem on the front, black pants and armed with a knife.

Anyone who has knowledge of this case, knows the suspect’s identity or sees him should take no action, but should immediately call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
