MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies
|
Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Citywide there have been 535 arrests for robbery this year. Below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.
First District
- Thursday, May 31, 2012, at approximately 7:30 pm, a victim was in the 1300 block of G Street, SE, when a suspect snatched the victim’s cell phone. A short time later, members of the Metropolitan Police Department stopped and arrested the suspect in the 1000 block of 14th Street, SE. A juvenile male was arrested for Robbery Snatch in connection with this offense.
Second District
- Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at approximately 1:14 am in the 2000 block of Massachusetts Ave NW, a victim was assaulted and robbed of his wallet and cash by four subjects. The suspects then fled the area. At approximately 3:10 am in the 1200 block of 22nd St NW, four subjects attempted to rob another complainant. The complainant fled and flagged down a Georgetown University Police officer, who broadcast a lookout of the suspects. The Metropolitan Police Department arrested an adult female, a juvenile female, and two juvenile males for Robbery and Attempt Robbery in connection with these cases.
Third District
- Sunday, February 19, 2012, at approximately 4:45 am, in the 1200 block of Vermont Avenue, NW, a suspect forcibly took property from the victim, then fled. An adult male suspect was arrested on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, and charged with Robbery Force and Violence, pursuant to a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant. The suspect was known to the victim.
- Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at approximately 7:13 pm, at 14th Street and Park Road, NW, two suspects attempted to snatch property from an individual. Two adult males were arrested nearby for Attempt Robbery.
- Thursday, May 24, 2012, at approximately 12:26 am, in the 1400 block of Columbia Road, NW, two suspects forcibly took property from a victim. One adult male was arrested nearby for Robbery Force and Violence.
- Thursday, May 31, 2012, at approximately 10:50 pm, in the 1500 block of Swann Street, NW, two suspects snatched property from the victim. One adult male was arrested nearby for Robbery Snatch.
Sixth District

Saturday, May 26, 2012 at approximately 1:48 am in the 4500 Quarles Avenue, NE, a victim was approached by a male suspect on a bike who demanded his property. The victim refused, attempted to flee, and was shot multiple times. Through an investigation, an adult male suspect was positively identified and arrested for Assault with the Intent to Rob while Armed.

Sunday, May 27, 2012 at approximately 6:44 pm, in the 200 block of 37th Place, SE, a known suspect snatched a victim’s cell phone out of her hand. The suspect was positively identified and placed under arrest for Robbery Snatch.
Seventh District

Saturday, May 26, 2012 at approximately 6:30 pm, in the 600 block of Alabama Avenue SE, a suspect asked a victim for money. When the victim refused, the suspect assaulted the victim. A juvenile suspect was later arrested for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.
- Monday, May 28, 2012, at approximately 5:46 pm, in the 1200 block of Eaton Road, SE, a complainant was approached by four male suspects who assaulted him and took his scooter. An adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery Force and Violence in connection with this crime.

- Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at approximately 10:00 am, in the 2200 block of Savannah Street, SE a suspect demanded money from a victim. The victim refused and the suspect assaulted the victim. An adult male was arrested for Assault with the Intent to Rob in connection with this crime.

Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at approximately 1:10 pm, in the 3900 block of 9th Street, SE a suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money from a victim. An adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery while Armed - Gun in connection with this crime.

Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at approximately 2:44 pm in the 2400 block of Naylor Road, SE, an armed suspect robbed a victim of her purse. An adult male suspect was arrested for Robbery while Armed - Gun in connection with this crime.
- Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at approximately 9:44 pm, in the 700 block of Brandywine Street, SE, a suspect took a victim’s purse. A second suspect took the victim’s cell phone and car keys. Both suspects then drove away in the victim’s vehicle. A juvenile suspect was arrested for Robbery Snatch in connection with this crime.
Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
