Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch and Major Crash unit, along with members of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the fatal industrial accident which occurred in the 1100 block of W Street, NE.

On Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at approximately 9:18 am officers from the Fifth District responded to the 1100 block of W Street, NE for the report of an industrial accident.  Upon arriving, officers learned that an adult male was run over by a dump truck.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local area hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 84 year-old Leroy Cook of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The investigation is ongoing.
