Body Found Under Bridge at Benning Road, NE

At approximately 12:45 this afternoon a citizen found the body of an unidentified black female under a bridge of the Route 295 overpass at Anacostia Avenue, NE.

The cause and manner of death will be determined pending an autopsy by the D.C. Medical Examiner’s Office. The case is presently being investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the department’s Sixth District investigators at 202-727-4515 or the department’s CrimeSolvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

All calls to CrimeSolvers are confidential. If a caller provides information through Crime Solvers which leads to an arrest and indictment, he/she will be eligible for a reward of up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.

UPDATE: Feb. 1, 2000
The woman has been identified with the assistance of Prince George's County Police. Her fingerprints identify her as 36-year-old Stephanie Regina Cuthbertson of the 3400 Block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills, MD. She was originally reported missing in Prince George's County. The apparent cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds to the body. This homicide case is under active investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the detectives at the sixth district or crime solvers at the phone numbers quoted above.
