At approximately 3:34 pm on Friday, January 28, 2000, Fourth District officers responded to the rear of 529 Lamont Street, NW for the sound of gunfire. Upon their arrival they discovered the body of 26-year-old Robert Jerome Gardner, of the 5000 block of First Street, NW, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:02 pm.
