Undetermined Death in Second District

At approximately 2:30 on the morning of Friday, February 18, 2000, Second District police, members of the DC Fire Department, Georgetown campus police and paramedics responded to a parking lot at 37th and O Streets, NW for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old David A. Shick, of Village A on the Georgetown Campus, suffering from a head wound. He as taken to the Georgetown University Hospital and subsequently pronounced dead at approximately 3:57 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2000.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives from the Second District. The ongoing investigation initially indicates that Mr. Shick was walking with a group of friends when they encountered another group of men. It appears an argument and altercation ensued. It is unknown if Mr. Shick received his injury as a result of the altercation. Police are investigating the possibility that the second group of men were also Georgetown University students.

The case is presently classified as an undetermined death, pending an autopsy by the DC Medical Examiner. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call detectives at the department's Second District at 202-282-0043.
