The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's assistance to help identify and locate the victim of an apparent assault. At approximately 5:40 on the morning of Wednesday, February 9, 2000, Fourth District officers were called to 13th Place and Peabody Street, NW for an assault. Upon their arrival they were advised that a man assaulted a woman with a baseball bat before putting her in a car and driving off. Police canvassed the area but could not find a victim. Some blood was found at the scene of the reported assault. Detectives are investigating to determine if the assault was domestic in nature. They have also contacted area hospitals and reviewed missing persons reports but are still unable to identify or locate the possible victim.
The victim in this case is described as a black female, approximately 23-years-old, 5'9" tall with a heavy build. She was reportedly wearing a black pull-over, green and white striped shirt and blue jeans. The suspect in this case is described as a black male, approximately 25-years-old, 6'3" tall, full beard with a medium build. He was wearing glasses, gray pull-over and jeans. He was believed to be operating a late model brown Oldsmobile Cutlass with District tags possibly beginning with the letters A G.
