At approximately 7:50 am on the morning of Saturday, November 21, 1998, members of the Fifth District responded to 1242 Neal Street NE for the report of a man down. Upon their arrival units found the body of an unidentified male lying in the rear of that location. The victim who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound was transported to DC Medical Examiner's office by members of the Medical Examiner's staff.

The victim, who has been identified as 36-year-old Nathan Tyrone Proctor of the 600 block of Eye Street, NE, was pronounced dead at 11:15 am.

The case is currently under active investigation by detectives of the Metropolitan Police Department.
