On Monday, December 21, 1998, at approximately 9:30 pm, police and DCFD emergency medical technicians responded to the 4100 block of Wheeler Road, SE, for the report of an injured person. Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from blunt force trauma to the head.

The victim, identified as 47-year-old Peter Howard, of the 3100 block of Stanton Road, SE, was transported to DC General Hospital where he was admitted. On Monday, December 28, 1998, Mr. Howard was pronounced dead at 7:53 am.

This case has been ruled as a homicide and is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
