Homicide in the 100 Block of Bates Street, NW

At approximately 12:38 this morning, police were called to the 100 block of Bates Street, NW for the report of a shooting. On arrival, they discovered the body of 23-year-old Earl Lee Bannister, of the 100 block of Q Street, NW. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Subsequently, he was taken to Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:04 this morning. Mr. Bannister is believed to be the victim of a drive-by shooting. The vehicle sought in this case is only described as gold in color.

The case is currently under investigation by members of the department's Third District . If a caller provides information to Crime Solvers which leads to an arrest and indictment, he/she will be eligible for a reward of up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
