D.C. Superior Court Employee Arrested

This morning, members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Office of Internal Affairs arrested a cashier employed by the Paternity and Child Support Branch of D.C. Superior Court. The employee, whose official duties included receiving child support payments and issuing receipts, allegedly stole money intended for that purpose.

The defendant, identified as 33-year-old Josetta Addison, of the 2500 block of 18th Street, SE, was wanted on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant charging her with Theft in the First Degree. At 9:30 this morning, she turned herself in at the Office of Internal Affairs, located at 300 Indiana Avenue, NW.

Agents of the Office of Internal Affairs initiated an investigation earlier this month after an individual appeared before a D.C. Superior Court judge and discovered that he had not been credited with a child support payment. The individual was able to produce a handwritten receipt for the child support payment that was allegedly generated by Addison.

Addison is scheduled to be arraigned today in D.C. Superior Court.

The investigation being conducted by the Office of Internal Affairs is ongoing. No further information is currently available.
