Since the beginning of September 1999, the Dupont Circle area has been plagued with a series of street robberies perpetrated by a subject described as a black male, 6'0" to 6'2" in height, slim build with a medium complexion.
On November 16, 1999, as a result of enforcement efforts by members of the Third District , an arrest was made for a robbery that occurred in the area of 15th & R Street, NW. The subject who was arrested is suspected of committing other robberies in this area. The investigation of this subject has already led to the closure of seven robberies and one armed burglary, all of which occurred in the Dupont Circle area. We are encouraging citizens who have either been a victim or witness to a robbery by an individual who matches the above description to contact Investigator David Swinson, Detective Robert Thompson, or Sergeant James G. Somers at the Third District Detective's Office at 202-673-6914, or email the district commander, Jose Acosta, at cmdrMPDC3D@aol.com .
