Murder Suspect Sought

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for the July 31, 1998 murders of Twain Terrick Edwards and Mario Barnett. Edwards and Barnett were found shot to death in their residence, apartment number 507 of 933 N Street, NW, at about 2:30 p.m.

Detectives have obtained a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant charging Cornelius MacDonald Smith (pictured here) with First Degree Felony Murder While Armed. Smith is described as a 21-year-old dark complexioned black male, 5’10" tall, weighing 220 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Cornelius MacDonald Smith should take no direct action, but call the Third District Detectives Office at 202-673-6914 or the D.C. CrimeSolvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

All calls to the CrimeSolvers Unit are confidential and a caller need not give his or her name. If the information provided by a caller to the CrimeSolvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller will be eligible for a reward of up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
